Frequently Asked Questions

What Is Coaching?

Coaching is a collaborative process that helps you move from where you are now to where you want to be. Rather than giving advice or telling you what to do, I help you gain clarity, identify obstacles, create practical strategies, and build momentum toward your goals.

What Coaching is not?

Coaching is not counseling or therapy. I’m not trained or qualified to help you heal past issues or trauma. I am not able to make in diagnosis nor provide any treatment. If you need those services I’ll be happy to refer you to them and help you find the professional you need.

Who do you work with?

I primarily work with:

  • Adults with ADHD or ADHD-like challenges

  • Entrepreneurs and small business owners

  • Professionals feeling overwhelmed or stuck

  • People navigating major life transitions

  • Individuals who want more focus, clarity, and follow-through

You do not need an ADHD diagnosis to work with me

I am will to work with anyone if we connect and you have goals that I can help with.

Do I need to have ADHD?

No. While my coaching is ADHD-informed, many of the tools and systems I use help anyone who struggles with overwhelm, competing priorities, procrastination, or maintaining momentum.

What makes your coaching different?

My approach combines:

  • ADHD-informed strategies

  • Whole Person Coaching principles

  • Practical systems and visual tools

  • Agile and project management techniques adapted for real life

  • Compassionate accountability

  • My life experience of burnout, mental health challenges, addiction, divorce, starting over, changing careers, and trauma. I’ve been through it. I can help you get through it too.

What kinds of goals can coaching help with?

Clients commonly seek support with:

  • Time management

  • Prioritization

  • Productivity

  • Business growth

  • Work-life balance

  • Building routines and habits

  • Reducing overwhelm

  • Completing projects

  • Improving focus and follow-through

If it's important to you, we can explore it together.

What happens during a coaching session?

The client always directs a coaching session. You direct the session. I may ask if you are sure you want to change direction to help you stay on track, but if you wish to change topic, we change to the new goal and desired outcomes.

Generally speaking we

  • Clarify what's most important right now

  • Identify obstacles and opportunities

  • Break large goals into manageable steps

  • Develop practical action plans

  • Review progress and celebrate wins

  • Adjust strategies when life changes

My goal is to help you leave each session with greater clarity and a realistic next step.

How long are coaching sessions?

Most coaching sessions are 60 minutes.

This allows enough time to explore challenges, create actionable plans, and build momentum without feeling rushed.

Discovery Sessions can take up to 3 hours. This can be done in a single session with breaks. Or in Two 1.5hour sessions.

Accountability check-ins can be up to 15mins.

How often do we meet?

Its up to you. Most clients chose to meet twice a month. But it is possible to schedule once a month or weekly.

Is coaching the same as therapy or therapy-lite?

No.

Therapy often focuses on healing, diagnosis, mental health treatment, and processing the past.

Coaching focuses on the present and moving you to a future you want by helping you create meaningful change, achieve goals, and develop effective systems and habits.

While I have lived experience with ADHD and trauma recovery, I am not a licensed therapist and do not provide mental health treatment.

Do you provide accountability?

Yes—but accountability looks different here.

Rather than judgment or pressure, I provide supportive accountability. We work together to create realistic commitments, learn from setbacks, and keep moving forward without shame.

What if I struggle to follow through?

You're not alone.

You are not broken.

Many of my clients are intelligent, capable people who have spent years feeling frustrated. Coaching helps uncover what's getting in the way and develop strategies that fit your unique strengths, challenges, and circumstances.

Is coaching conducted in person or online?

Most coaching sessions are conducted online through video conferencing, making it easy to work together regardless of location.

Limited in-person coaching may be available depending on location and scheduling.

What happens during the discovery call?

The discovery call is a no-pressure conversation where we:

  • Get to know each other

  • Discuss your goals and challenges

  • Explore whether coaching is a good fit

  • Review coaching options

  • Answer any questions you may have

There is no obligation to continue after the call.

Do you offer coaching for businesses and teams?

Yes.

I work with small businesses and teams to improve:

  • Focus

  • Communication

  • Prioritization

  • Transparency

  • Accountability

  • Workflow management

Many of these tools are especially effective for organizations that include ADHD or neurodivergent leaders and/or team members.

What qualifications do you have?

I bring over 25 years of experience helping people solve complex problems, lead projects, and create effective systems.

I am currently working toward:

Certified Whole Person Coach certification

International Coaching Federation (ICF) Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credential

My coaching also draws from professional experience in Agile coaching, leadership, software development, project management, and lived experience navigating ADHD-related challenges.

How do I get started?

Getting started is simple.

Schedule a free discovery call, and we'll discuss where you are, where you'd like to go, and whether Focus Coaching is the right next step for you.

Clarity. Compassion. Momentum. That's where we begin.
